RUMOUR: Need for Speed 2022 Reveal Coming Next Week, Will Release in December

After months of waiting and internal delays, a reveal of the next mainline Need for Speed title - believed to be titled ‘Need for Speed Unbound’ - is reportedly ‘imminent’ and expected to be revealed next week.

Posting over on Insider Gaming, known industry insider Tom Henderson has detailed the Need for Speed Unbound reveal will take place in early October within the next 2 weeks, with it looking more likely to be revealed next week at the time at the time of writing.

Henderson also states from his sources that Need for Speed Unbound will launch on December 2nd, 2022 and that the announce trailer is around 90 seconds long featuring music from American rapper A$AP Rocky.

Back in June, Henderson reported Need for Speed Unbound was expected to be revealed in Late July, which he had heard was pushed to August and then again to September, with no official reason for the setbacks.

Most recently, images of what appears to be the Need for Speed Unbound logo began to circulate on Twitter, adding credence to these leaks and offering an idea of the theme and tone of the title.

As per his sources, Need for Speed Unbound will be a current gen only release (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), with no plans for a last gen version.

From current rumours, Need for Speed Unbound will be set in a fictionalized Chicago with a photorealistic art style with ‘anime elements’. A big new feature coming to the game is ‘Meetups’, where players can meet up around the map and initiate races. The tracks around the map are described as ‘unique’, with one of Henderson’s sources saying the map has a large train running through it.
