The Crew Motorfest Officially Announced, Launching In 2023 | First Details

After almost five years since the launch of The Crew 2, Ubisoft and Ivory Tower have officially revealed The Crew Motorfest - launching later this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Amazon Luna.

The Crew Motorfest takes players to the island of Hawaii to partake in Motorfest - a one-of-a-kind festival and enjoy the best experience car culture has to offer across a beautiful open world.

You can check out the reveal trailer below, in addition to a developer deep dive:

For the first time in the franchises’ history, The Crew Motorfest ditches the sprawling open-world playground of the United States in favor of a newer and much smaller locale, the island of O’ahu in Hawaii.

Ivory Tower, who are made up of developers who worked on the original Test Drive Unlimited, are returning to their roots with Motorfest, with Senior Creative Director Stéphane Beley (who worked as Game Director on Test Drive Unlimited) likening Motorfest as a potentially fascinating return to the setting of the 2006 classic.

Motorfest, unlike Test Drive Unlimited, won’t be an exact 1:1 recreation, but instead will focus on its key areas with a higher density of activities and biomes to see and explore similar to previous The Crew titles, with Beley calling Motorfest’s interpretation of O’ahu one of the biggest islands he’s made; packed with a diverse range of racing environments, including dense city streets, tropical rainforests, mountain roads, sunny beaches and typical Hawaiian volcanoes.

The Crew Motorfest focuses on car culture featuring hundreds of vehicles, including all new vehicles such as the Laamborghini Sian FKP 37 Roadster, Ford Bronco Wildtrak, Shelby Cobra 427/SC Roadster and Lamborghini Urus. However, Ivory Tower have confirmed boats and planes that were first introduced in The Crew 2 will still be featured in Motorfest.

“I call it the Motorfest; I don’t call it Carfest,” says Beley, speaking with IGN. “Because for me it’s important that every motor could be represented inside this experience. I refer to car culture but you will have plenty of stories with boats and planes also, and you will be able to experience this beautiful world from many points of view, from boats on the water or from the air with your plane.”

The Crew Motorfest is also being built on a new game engine. With previous titles being built on the Dunia Engine, used for titles like Far Cry, Motorfest is being built on the Snowdrop engine which powers Ubisoft games such as The Division, Mario + Rabbids and the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

The Crew Motorfest is expected to launch sometime in 2023, with an ongoing Insider Program that will let players test the game during different phases of development to give feedback leading up to launch. We’ll be covering every bit of new information and details we get during the year leading up to The Crew Motorfest’s launch, so be sure to stay tuned to our socials for all the latest updates.
