Grand Theft Auto Online: Los Santos Tuners Update Revealed, Launches Next Week
Rockstar have officially revealed its long-awaited underground car culture themed update for GTA Online titled Los Santos Tuners, adding tons of new content including action-packed Tuner-based missions, new races, new cars and a car meet social space.
Launching next week on July 20th, players will be able to meet up at the LS Car Meet, a gigantic, shared social space where you and your cherished personal vehicle can mingle freely with fellow car fans to race, show off your customized vehicles, and even link up with shady contacts looking for skilled drivers and a chance at easy money.
The LS Car Meet social space is located in a non-descript, graffitied warehouse on the edge of town in Cypress Flats, where up to 30 players can meet up in an Oppressor and weapon-free zone to take in the underground street scene of Los Santos.
The Los Santos Tuners update introduces the LS Car Meet Membership - a new Reputation based progression path for players with new benefits unlocking after each Level. Members will get access to a Test Track, large underground space inside the Car Meet warehouse where you and your friends can drive, drift, and race vehicles freely without pedestrians or sample new Test Rides.
Members will get to compete in rotating Prize Ride Challenges for the chance to win a special Prize Ride and get access to a range of special shops and features including a Merch Shop, Tattoo Shop, and a Modding Area where you can customize your car in front of other players in real-time. Higher level members can create a Private Takeover with the Car Meet decorated with customizable lighting and banner colours.
Players will earn rep by participating in and winning races, daily log in bonuses, putting in time at the test track and just hanging at the Car Meets. Earning Rep rewards players with fashionable gear and new car customization options like new wheels and liveries, as well as Trade Prices on certain vehicles, access to new Race modes, and even the ability to hold your own private Car Meet.
Over the course of the summer, Los Santos Tuners will introduce 17 new cars to GTA Online, with 10 dropping at launch on July 20. These range from many real-world inspired vehicles including the Toyota A90 Supra, Mazda RX-7, Honda S2000 and many more.
Rockstar also revealed that when GTA Online launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this year, select vehicles will be upgradable with all new speed improvements and more - exclusive to these next-gen console versions.
Los Santos Tuners adds new races both inside and outside of the new Car Meet space, each with their own Leaderboards. On the Test Track, you can compete in friendly non-contact Head-to-Head races and Scramble events where four players race to collect 20 checkpoints, or Time Trials to put your vehicles through their paces.
New race series events have also been added for members: Street Race Series and Pursuit Series. The Street Race series features creative tracks built on the streets of Los Santos’ most iconic neighborhoods. The Pursuit series features much more open tracks with LSPD’s finest hot on your tail as you compete.
