Forza Horizon 4's Route Creator Might Not Be Available At Launch
Forza Horizon 4 is adding several new and innovative features compared to previous Horizon games, with its biggest being the weekly map and gameplay altering Seasons, however it seems as if one such feature might not make it in time for release.
The Route Creator tool, as the name implies, allows players to create their own custom races and share them online with the community, with either online players or against drivatars, and has been eagerly anticipated feature among the fans since it was announced.
During Forza Horizon 4's weekly seasonal streams, which revealed tons of new information about bodykits, car masteries, online free-roam, progression and much more, players noticed that the Route Creator was locked out and labelled "Coming Soon" - leading to speculation that the feature may not be available at launch.
Jon Knoles, Design Director at Turn 10 Studios, addressed this issue over on the Forza Motorsport forums and also revealed new details about how the feature works:
- The Route Creator will restrict you to selecting a start point from one of the games existing events' start locations, but allows routes to go wherever you can drive after that, even if they are far away from the start location.
- Players will place Checkpoints along the route, allowing you to adjust the width of each checkpoint as you place them.
- Custom routes can be circuit races or point-to-point, and are not limited to staying on the road.
However, he stated that due to the open nature and freedom of these routes, Playground Games have encountered numerous bugs and navigational challenges for Drivatars as they are finishing the game, and plan to share more about the Route Creator at a later date.
Knoles neither confirmed or denied if the Route Creator will be available at launch, however features such as the Auction House, Leagues and Specialty Dealer were added post-launch with Forza Motorsport 7 so its possible this could be the case with the Route Creator in Forza Horizon 4.
Forza Horizon 4 releases on Xbox One and Windows 10 on October 2nd 2018, or September 28th 2018 for Ultimate Edition purchasers, and will be available free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers at launch.
