EA Website Teases Need for Speed Announcement on October 5th
EA have launched a countdown timer website teasing a Need for Speed announcement on October 5th, which is almost certainly a reveal of the long-rumoured Hot Pursuit 2010 remaster.
After a series of bizarre teases over on the Need for Speed official twitter account, many of which included various “510” imagery, a countdown timer has gone live over on EA’s website with a description which reads the following:
“5:10. How did he go so fast? Five ten. "Call Big Joe's Pizzeria on 0800-510-510-510." There's got to be a way to fix this.”
The countdown is set to finish on October 5th at 4pm GMT, 9am PT and 12pm ET, which is when we’ll most likely get our first reveal trailer for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered.
One of the biggest hints that this Hot Pursuit Remastered is the background imagery used on the website showcasing a slanted road, which when compared to Hot Pursuit cover art is near identical.
While 5:10 also points towards October 5th, 5:10 is a very common police radio code designated for speeding vehicles. How and why this fits into Need for Speed Heat, with the imagery of “Big Joe’s Pizzeria” from the tweets not actually found in-game, remains to be seen.
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered leaks first originated back in June, with games industry journalist Jeff Grubb revealing that Burnout Paradise Remastered developers Stellar Entertainment are currently remastering a Need for Speed title at the time believed to be Hot Pursuit.
In July, New Zealand based retailer Mighty Ape had listings for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Later outlets revealed the title is slated for a November 13th release date, which would see the title launch the same week as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
